About EveningStorm Studio
EveningStorm Studio is a small digital
production studio owned by Brian Voncannon. The studio is a division of
EveningStorm Enterprises and is associated with 1610 AM EveningStorm Radio. The
studio specializes in small digital production work for other community radio
stations, which includes CDs containing FX, music, as well as software. All
products are designed with the smaller radio station who is on a tight budget,
but needs quality products. The owner is a former SWAT team member and US Army
Infantry veteran. After being stricken with an illness that stemmed from
military service in 1991, he was forced to leave the world of law enforcement.
He has published six books and nine screenplays. He also started a small
community radio station that operates legally under part 15 of the FCC rules and
regulations. The benchmark of this station is the VC and Ned morning show.
Studio CDs
(if ordering a hard copy)
All of our products are created in the studio and
are burnt to quality CD-R media. You will find your manuals, license, and
information sheets in .pdf format on the disks themselves. We save money by
printing the products here, while doing away with alot of fancy boxes. Your CD
will be shipped in thin jewel case with any paperwork that is required.
System Requirements
Note: All of our audio products are created on a
system running Windows® XP and are recommended to be used on a IBM compatible PC
running Windows® 98 or higher. Macintosh® computers are not supported! All of
our CD files are created in .ogg, .mp3, or .wav (Windows® PCM) format, depending
on the product. For software products,
please visit the individual websites for specific requirements for each
software
package.
Important Note
If you try to play the tracks directly from the CD,
some computers may cause the music to sound like it is skipping or it may not
play correctly. There is nothing wrong with the tracks! To remedy this, simply
download the tracks to your computer system before reviewing/editing. You can
use the Windows®
Explorer or file manager to do this.
Most all EveningStorm sound files are created in either .wav format (Windows®
PCM) .mp3, or Ogg Vorbis (.ogg) format, and are designed to be used on a PC
running Windows® 98 or higher; therefore, it is not recommended to be used on a
Macintosh® computer. Also, please be aware that the Acapellas, Listener Drops,
and Instant Radio Guest CDs are voice track products. In other words, they do
not include music beds in the background. You will need some sort of audio
editing software to blend them into your own recordings for the proper effect.
Some of our CDs may contain an instruction sheet in MS Word® format, while most
will contain .PDF files. Simply browse the CD with your file manager or explorer
and double click the file. Adobe® Acrobat® readers are available free on the
Internet.
Product Licensing
All of our music, effects, etc. CD products are
covered under one blanket license. All of our broadcast material CDs are
covered under a separate license. Please visit the
licensing page and read our terms. Please
note that software is excluded from this blanket as they each have their own
licenses.
Ogg Vorbis Audio Format
You may also notice that we
cater to the Ogg Vorbis sound format quite a bit here. For those of you not
familiar with this format, we recommend that you check out
http://www.vorbis.com.
Ogg Vorbis is an open source/patent free audio encoding and streaming technology
that sounds as good, if not better, than .mp3. Our DJ Assistant software, as
well as the upcoming
Vorbimizer, use only Ogg Vorbis (.ogg) format
music files. However, most of our music and sound FX CDs are in wave (.wav)
format. Make sure you check the system requirements on the product that you wish
to purchase to see if you need to convert your music to the Ogg format.
Mp3 format is not a "free" format as many may
think. The owners of the patent require a minimum of $15,000 per year, plus .75
per unit sold. As much as we understand protecting a patent, this is tough on
the small developer that would not even be able to cover the minimum
royalties. Therefore, Ogg Vorbis is the primary audio compression
format supported by most of our products. Encoders and decoders are freely
available all over the Internet. If you plan to purchase any of our products
that support only the Ogg Vorbis format, then I would recommend that you
consider converting your files. However, always make backups when altering your
files!
